Brand Contractubex has proved highly effective in treating scars for many years. It is prescribed for Movement-restricting hypertrophic, amputations, keloidal scars and cosmetically disfiguring scars after operations, burns and accidents. It can also be used after scalds, laser treatments and abrasions. Contractubex reduces redness, itching and the feeling of tensionprevents, prevents the formation of excessive scar tissue and makes the scar smoother and improves elasticity.
Treatment can be started just days after wound closure or 8-10 days after an operation. Slightly massage gel into the scar tissue 2 to 3 times daily. Start at the centre and work towards the edges, massaging the gel gently into the scar. Continue with a small, circular motion until Contractubex is completely absorbed. In the case of hard old scars it is recommended to cover the scar with Contractubex and a bandage overnight to enhance deep penetration of the active ingredients. A treatment will be necessary for several weeks or even months depending on the size of the existing scar or contracture. A reduction of redness can usually be observed after 4 weeks; after two months, the scar tissue gradually becomes lighter more elastic and flat.
Do not use on open wounds, unhealed or mucous membrane. When treating fresh scars, physical irritations (e.g., severe cold) UV light or intensive massage should be avoided.
Contractubex should not be used by patients with hypersensitivity to alky-4-hydroxybenzoates (parabenes) and infants under 1 year old.
